I just installed ClickToFlash (http://rentzsch.github.com/clicktoflash/) on all my Macs and my browsing experience has dramatically increased 1000% for the better. No more intrusive pop-up ads, distracting animations, and more importantly, long-loading, resource-intensive, useless, gimmicky intros and gadgets... unless I specifically ask for it.
I can only imagine what would happen if Flash apps on the iPhone didn't have such an ability to be optionally downloaded, let alone execute upon it loading. It's bad enough that AT&T's bandwidth is horrendous at times, I don't need to waste half a megabyte just downloading an advertisement.

ClickToFlash is Awesome. My computer runs so much cooler now that I've installed it.

Will the keynote be streamed live?
No, it will most likely be shown on apples sight 2 hours after its ending however MR will keep up with the details of the event.

I think you can control when the data gets backed up, and it would be good if you could delete versions after a certain time. They must have the scenarios worked out, otherwise for my 40GB iBook HD and 80GB LaCie external drive, I'd need about a TB * to be able to go back in time for the year of changes.

When they come out and we both buy one, can we have a little MacRumours party topic? We can dance all night long! ;)
I would be so happy!
I'll wait for the Media Centre Edition to ship - that's one of the "super secret" parts of OSX 10.5 that hasn't been shown.

Yea, but they send you the new one while you use the old one. And considering the capacity of your old battery, you probably live off the power adapter a lot anyway.
And they've probably got to manufacture a bunch of new batteries for this.
They say you are NOT supposed to use the old battery but instead remove it live off the power adaptor which sucks for me! But much better than burns you know where!$#@#!

I love the idea of a movie section on the iTMS, but without a next gen iPod Video to go with it, I don't think it will do well. I say this because I just have a feeling Apple will offer the movies at current resolutions, which is awful for movies.
If they offer the movies at least at DVD quality with true surround, I'm on board.
But I still want an iPhone. ;)

I think Mac sales are directly tied to the Halo affect of the iOS devices. The more they sell there, the more people open up to Mac as an alternative. With Lion having more iOS like interfaces, it will make it even more natural for new customers.
This is exactly how I got into the Mac market.
After getting an iPhone 3G, when it came time for a new laptop, I decided to give Mac a go. I absolutely loved the hardware.
A few months ago, when it was time for a new desktop, iMac 27 inch was the machine of choice. I still prefer Windows 7 over Mac OS and Bootcamp/Win 7 is the first thing I install on new Mac hardware.
I like having both options available to me.

How come it is extremely imporbable and unlikely?
They presented there script against a mac because the mac strives on the claim that they are the safest pc out there.
They said in there interview they targeted the mac because they hate the commercials.
Explain how that makes there presentation poor.
Simply put, by presenting the hack with a MacBook they made it appear as though the MacBook had a fatal flaw that was inherent to the system and they were poor at presenting this flaw as a problem with a particular third-party wireless card.
The addition of their complaining about the commercial made they appear as though they had a vendetta and a bias which security researchers should avoid. The flaw should have been presented with a multitude of systems, including the Mac, to show how the flaw affected Windows and the Mac, and they should have been more clear about the addition of a third-party USB wireless device as well as their tweaking of OSX's settings.
They went for a flashy presentation and got fried by it.

If Apple manufactured their products in the US, the iPhone would probably cost $999 with a 2-year contract and the iPad would probably cost $1599 for the 16GB model.
When you have to pay someone $12 an hour to work an assembly line and pay for benefits and payroll taxes, that raises costs a lot to a country where you can pay 75 cents per hour and benefits like health insurance cost $5 a month rather than $500.
A 25-page document isn't necessary and the law would be dumb. All that it takes is for someone to take a basic economics course.
Americans who complain about jobs leaving overseas need to realize that when they go shopping they need to put their money where their mouth is. Everyone pays lip service to "made in the usa" but when they look at the price tags in the store they buy made in china!
The thing to watch here is if the quality improves when production is done in Brazil. If the production quality is the same or better, that's good news for consumers.
Why? Samsung has manufactured their products in Korea. Their employees get more pay and benefits than average Americans. iPhone could be $615 vs $599 but I can pay a little more for iPhone assembled In USA.

Pros...
#1 Album Artwork. No more Google searches.
#2 Gapless playback. Now i can playback my 70 minute prog rock albums as they were intended
Cons...
#1 Movies 640 by 480? No widescreen or animorphic? forget that! I haven't bought a 4x3 movie since 1998
#2 Still can't burn it. I won't buy anything I can't burn an play in a DVD player. iTV could posibly change my mind. We'll see.

I'm pretty sure readings of 15C-19C are incorrect. I've NEVER seen or heard of modern laptop/desktop CPUs running that cool.
I'm sure you're correct but I'm confused as to what results to believe.
I'm now using istat Pro, Temperature Monitor and Core2Duotemp. All are saying the same thing.
See the screen grab below.
If I put the machine under stress it does go up to 50 or 60 degrees but generally, it's saying around 21 when idle.

My experience supports food stamps being wasted as well. While I have never seen or heard of people selling them, I did work in a grocery store as a cashier for a while and consistently saw people use food stamps to purchase food items which were overpriced, low value, not on sale, or otherwise terrible "value for money" purchases. Fancy fruit drinks or other things which are a complete waste of money when you have a limited budget for food were incredibly common.
Not to mention how often people would pay for some ridiculously overpriced luxury food items with food stamps and then pay cash for things like cigaretts or the rag magazines or other things which are equally unnecessary, and completely, 100% luxury items and not in the slightest bit a need.
Considering this was the overwhelming majority of customers, I am so thankful to the woman who came and purchased a ton of items, all on sale, with coupons on food stamps. She probably got 10x or 20x the "food value" from those food stamps as compared with the overwhelming majority of people using them. But seeing that one person take advantage of food stamps in a meaningful way was absolutely amazing because it means that the entire program is not a waste.
Now, obviously this is just my personal experience. It is possible the store I worked at had a disproportionate number of people who would squander their food stamps. I hope this is the case. But I am relatively skeptical the majority of food stamp purchasers are like the woman I described but rather like the majority I encountered.
My neighbor, who is a manager at a Kroger (a grocery store) has told me the same thing.

Is it that the welfare system in Sweden, or for that matter the US, isn't enough to adequately shift the strictures of poverty?
Good post, BTW.
Thanks for that. I actually spent some time debating whether or not to post it, as posts of that sort typically run afoul of the race police who'd rather smugly slap that label on someone rather than have an intelligent discussion.
I really don't think throwing more money/services at the problem is going to accomplish anything, which is what Sweden seems to be doing, albeit not in a direct way. We've been taking a similar course in education for longer than I've been alive, yet the achievement gap remains (it was in another thread here where I posted that in the US, blacks typically underperform relative to whites by about 1σ).

yes I do ... and I am 100% in support ... I would be more than willing to pay more taxes if Canada increased our spending to bring us more on par with the US.
How can that possibly be justified? What is the threat that this budget is confronting?

it does not even make sense to put a phone there, since when can phones do RSS? Its just really fishy tt it is placed alongside the ipod and itunes.
Many phones are capable, they can use 3rd party apps etc, but new phones such as the Sony Ericsson K800 has a built in RSS reader!
As for the phone in the picture, it looks like a Sony ERicsosn K608 or someting along those lines....not a very good phone, so lets hope Apple doesnt use that as a bas to model the iPhone on...lol
Cheers

Well, I'm moving in a year, and while its kinda a cool idea, it just makes no sense for me to spend any sort of money when it works fine and looks good as is. I'm not a fan of wall mounts anyway.

I think they are using the "we don't want this to get out into the wild" thing as a scam. If you do it in person people might actually ask questions like 1) Why not use the built in wireless card? ('cause we're not good enough to hack that) 2) What are the security settings on the Mac? (everything open and enabled, making it childs play to "hack" in 3) Why would anyone ever use a USB external wifi-card with a MacBook? (They wouldn't - this is about as hypothetical a "hacK" as there ahs ever been).
It's really funny to see earlier in the thread how some of the hacker friends were claiming victory about how the Mac is vulnerable and Mac users are just smug blah blah blah. Strangely, there aren't any posts like that after it was discovered about the 3rd party card and all of the other inconsistencies. This smells just like that "Hack a Mac" contest. Lets make this thing as easy to crack as possible and see if someone can do it - DUH!
